Meet some of the fairyland folk that live in the enchanted woodland...

The world of woodland enchantment is not just home to the wizards, fairies, wizzoes, pixies, gnomes and elves. It is also home to many birds and animals.

Cookmice

Cookmice have the important job of searching and gathering food from the forest. They have an acute sense of smell and taste and are not poisoned by anything, but they can tell which berries are poisonous to a pixie or fairy. They make all the delicious treats for the others that live in the forest, and are always cooking something. They make at least 500 fairycakes and appletree pies per day.

The Peacock

These magical birds have the job of supervising that everything is as it should be. They inspect the work of the fairies and give them advice when they need it. Alot of the fairies go to a Peacock when they need someone to talk to, as they are great listeners.
They make very good friends and mentors as they are very knowledgeable, honest and fair.
Peacocks above all like perfection, and are always neat and tidy.

Shimmerbirds

Shimmerbirds have the appearance of small flying rainbows because their  wings are coated with the gold dust kept by the Leprachauns, this turns their normally transparent feathers into amazing different colours when the light falls on them. Not only are they dazzling and sparkling but they also have the most beautiful song voices.

Frogs

The frogs look after the Silver Lake of all Reflections, and are constantly make sure the water is kept clean because the water also acts as a looking glass and this special mirror can show you anyone at anytime in forest just by thinking about them. When the frogs are not looking after the lake they like nothing better than to practice somersaulting over the bullrushes, and because they practice so much they usually win the high jump tournament held at the annual Colour Lantern Ball.

Dancing Fuscias

The little fairy flower dancers are amazing on the dance floor and have very quick feet. They are just one kind of dancing fairy flower, as there are so many in the enchanted woodland. When they are dancing and swirling they exude different shades of pink fairy light. They know many dances and dance steps and are quite magnificent to watch.

The Unicorns

The unicorns in the forest are very shy and quiet creatures. They don't talk much and like their own company best but are always happy to help someone that needs a place to stay. The unicorns are very good at building things, and they make sure that the inhabitants are protected by putting up plenty of shelters. They have their own special magic, but they don't use much as they never need to, as everyone that is in their presence will feel instantly at peace and that all is well, and this is magical enough.

Ladybirds

Ladybirds have tremendous fortune and luck, and it is their job to fly through the forest to spread this everywhere. In the enchanted woodland you will also see purple and orange ladybirds, and some have diamonds instead of spots.

Poppy Dollies

Poppy Dollies are another kind of dancing flowers. The fairies bring the poppy dollies to life, making them from the poppy flowerheads.
You may know how to do this yourself; pull down the poppy petals to the stem and then tie a blade of grass around the middle. Use part of the poppy stalk to poke through at the top for arms.
But can you bring the dancing flower doll to life like a fairy can?

Butterflorses

Butterflorses are as magical as unicorns, and some of them even have horns. They are very small creatures but they are very strong. They have the bodies of horses and the wings of butterflies, and just like butterflies there are many different colours of them. Spectrum changed himself into a butterflorse once just to see what it felt like.

Swans

The swans live on the Silver Lake of all Reflections and they help the frogs keep the bottom of the lake clean by eating the algae growing there. They also help them to remove any dead leaves and plants. When they are not helping the frogs, they swim and sleep. They have dazzling white feathers that sparkle in the sunlight.

Magic Mushrooms

Mushrooms are one of the most important plants in the forest. Not only do they make good stools for the music makers, but they also act as a shelter for some of the smaller creatures.
Every mushroom has it's own spirit inside, and when the moon is full they come alive and turn into dancing fairy sprites. When dawn comes, the morning dew turns them back into mushrooms. This is why sometimes you see magic mushroom circles on fields where they have been holding hands and dancing in a round during the night.
If anyone ever offers you a magic mushroom - just say no!
